Conrad D. Maney, 91, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2017, at the Charles George VA Medical Center.
Mr. Maney was born in Asheville and was preceded in death by his parents, Hughie L. and Annie Sloop Maney, his first wife, Louise Terrell Maney; and brothers, Howard, Forrest, Gilbert and Donald Maney.
He was an Army veteran of WW II and received an Associate Degree from Asheville-Biltmore College. He worked as an electrical technician at the National Climatic Data Center. Mr. Maney was a charter member of VFW Post 3040, and was a Mason. He formerly served as a little league coach as well as being active supporting other youth sports.
He was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Penland Maney; daughters, Lynn Maney-McIntosh (Bill), Cheryl Cantey and Teresa McCarthy; grandchildren, Robbie Player (Amy), Brad Cantey, Scott Cantey and Billy Cantey; great-grandchildren, Margot Player and Nolan Player; and a brother, Carlton Maney (Evelyn).
A memorial service will be at 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Revs. Rodney H. Hagans and Nancy Dixon Walton officiating. The family will greet friends at the church following the memorial service.
Private burial with Military Honors will be at Green Hills Cemetery.
