Glenn Allan Guy, 65, of Fletcher, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at the John F. Keever Jr. Hospice Solace Center.
A native of McLean, VA, he was a son of the late Barbara Marshall and Robert Allan Guy. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Leo and Mildred Marshall.
Glenn was a former Deputy Sheriff with the New Hanover County Sheriff's Department in Wilmington, NC and went on to serve as a rural letter carrier for 19 years before having to retire due to disability.
He became a member of Trinity of Fairview Baptist Church in 1992. He loved singing in the choir, was a faithful member of the "Joyfully His" Sunday School class and enjoyed doing any work or repairs around the church. In his spare time, Glenn enjoyed being outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, as well as helping and working for others any way he could. Glenn will forever remembered by all who knew him as a very loving and giving man.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Gail Jenkins Guy; daughter, Jennifer Guy; step-son, Mark Seagroves; granddaughter, Meredith Seagroves; two sisters, Bonnie Murray and her husband, Norm and Heidi Manders; two brothers, Mark Guy and his wife, Paula and Geoffrey Guy, as well as many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews who he loved and enjoyed very much.
A Celebration Of Life service will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, April 14 at Trinity of Fairview with Pastor Stacey Harris and Reverend Steve Harris officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 6:00-7:00 PM on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, the family graciously asks that memorial donations be made in Glenn's name to the Trinity of Fairview Baptist Church Building Fund, 646 Concord Road, Fletcher, NC 28732.
Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.
