Kenneth Hensley, 79, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Mission Hospital.
Kenneth was born in Pamplin, Virginia to the late Hubert and Carrie Chandley Hensley but as a child moved to Madison County, NC, where his family farmed. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Betty Penley and brother, Harvey Hensley.
He graduated from North Buncombe High School and attended AB Tech. He was retired from Eaton Corporation and considered Boiling Springs Baptist his church home. He loved the mountains, being outside, and he especially loved feeding and watching his squirrels that came to visit. He loved helping people and you could always count on him to be there for you. He was the best Dad and Pa anyone could ask for and he is missed greatly.
Kenneth is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Alva Gillis Hensley; daughter Terry Wells; son-in-law, Fred Wells; and three grandchildren, Evan Wells, Brendon Wells, and Julianna Wells.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, May 6, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Boiling Springs Baptist Church in Fletcher, with Pastor Cody Sturgill officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Cemetery in Asheville.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 to 3:00 at the church.
