Margaret Hayes Lambert, 90, of Asheville, North Carolina passed away peacefully on Monday, February 26, 2018. She was born on December 14, 1927, the daughter of Ruby Casida Hayes Roberts and Astor Franklin Hayes.
“Mimi” retired after twenty-seven years from Ball Corporation, and enjoyed her retirement years growing roses, doing for others, and cooking huge, wonderful meals for family and friends. She always made Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and birthdays special. She was a gracious hostess; her porch was a favorite gathering place for many in the community. In later years she fiercely fought cancer, heart attack, stroke and dementia. Her legacy of strength and courage, caring and giving will always inspire, guide and encourage those who knew her.
The family extends appreciation to the staff at Aston Park Health Care who cared for her with love in spite of her “feistiness.”
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Hobart Lambert; her son, Ronnie Lambert; and her sister, Dorothy Edwards. She is survived by daughter, Carole Lambert Lentz (DeVere); granddaughter, Julie Waldrop Wise (Todd); great-granddaughter, Lauren Wise; great-grandson, Devan Wise; daughter-in- law, Susan Taylor Lambert; and nephews, Bruce Edwards (Martha), Jim Edwards (Hilda), and Larry Edwards (Jackie).
A memorial service will be held March 9, 2018, 2:00 PM at Victory Baptist Church, 80 Olivette Road, Asheville, NC with Rev. Mark Chase and Rev. Norm Sanders officiating.
Family will receive friends immediately after the service in the church social hall.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.
