Vance B. Ashe, 87, died Friday, July 14, 2017, at Pisgah Manor Health Care Center.
A native of Asheville, Vance was a son of the late James Elisha and Anne Winberry Ashe and was also preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Moffitt "Bobbie" Ashe in 2013, and brothers, James E. Ashe, Jr. and Alan W. Ashe.
He was a graduate of Lee Edwards High School and attended Duke University. He operated the firm of Ashe Accounting and was a member of Francis Asbury United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School for many years and served on many committees. He was also a 33rd degree Mason, a Shriner and a member of the Motorcycle Corps.
Mr. Ashe is survived by his daughters, Mollie Ashe Scott and husband Robert, Brenda Rhinehart and husband Ronnie, and Susan Tedder and husband Neil, all of Candler; son, Greg Ashe, of Raleigh; grandchildren, Matt Rhinehart, Jacob Scott, Colin Scott, Whitney Tedder, and Melody Lakeman; great-grandson, Cole Rhinehart; and a brother, Donald Ashe.
The funeral service for Mr. Ashe will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Francis Asbury United Methodist Church, with The Revs. Dr. Michael Kurtz and Veranita Alvord officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
