David Douglas Moore, 73, died at his Fairview home from bladder cancer October 20, 2017. Throughout the last two years, David’s wife Rene’, his family, and friends have been at his side. David was born July 14, 1944 in Bristol, Tennessee to Peter Davenport Moore and Bithia Leona Leonard Moore.
David was a NC State Certified appraiser and developer. Most of his professional life was spent in Asheville and surrounding states. He and various partners developed Riverside Business Park and many other properties. They donated land for a riverside park in the Town of Woodfin and French Broad River Academy.
David was an MIA/SRA, Realtor, member of the Appraisal Institute, past president of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers, a volunteer for the WNC Chapter 184 of SREA and Big Brothers/Big Sisters. David was a graduate of Virginia High School, Bristol, VA and held a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Montreat College. Truly, he was a Renaissance man who loved racing, cycling, motorcycles, watersports, golfing and most of all, learning. He was a licensed pilot and instrument rated.
David is survived by his wife of 24 years, Rene’ Revels Moore, formerly of Mayo, Florida, and his children: Kimberly deNise Moore of Kingsport, Tenn; Laura Proffitt (Tony) Layne of Oakwood, VA; David Michael Moore; Stephen Nathaniel (Jennifer) Moore of Fairview, NC. His sisters: Mary Wilkerson and Patsy Ann Moore. Grandchildren: Christopher Elliot Hatcher, Nathan Ryan Coulombe, Andrew David Moore, and Hailey Josephine Moore.
A celebration of David’s life will be held Saturday, November 11, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at Covenant Community Church, 11 Rocket Drive, Asheville, NC.
