Helen Ingle Alexander, 93, of 120 West Oakview Road, Asheville, died Thursday, November 6, 2008, at her home.
Mrs. Alexander was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late James Vernon and Charlotte Buckner Ingle. She was married to Bryan W. Alexander, who died in 1974, and was also preceded in death by a son, Dr. William B. Alexander and a grandson, Matthew James Alexander.
Mrs. Alexander was a former teacher for the Buncombe County and Asheville City School systems and she was a member of Oak Forest Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Joy A. Colvard and her husband Dr. James Colvard, of King George, VA, Alice Faye Alexander of Abingdon, VA, and Esther A. Clements and her husband, the Rev. Dr. Don K. Clements, of Narrows, VA; one son, The Rev. James Julian Alexander and his wife, Tari of Baton Rouge, LA; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 4:00 p.m. Saturday at Green Hills Cemetery, with the Rev. James Julian Alexander and the Rev. Dr. Don K. Clements officiating.
The family will receive friends at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue one hour prior to the service.
