Frances Austin Penley, 82, of Morganton, died on Wednesday, January 4, 2012.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Martin Penley, Jr., who died in 1995; and son, Sammie M. Penley, who died in 1987.
Mrs. Penley is survived by her son, Homer Dean Penley; grandchildren, Steve, Erica, Wesley, Daniel, Keye and Chris Penley; and several great-grandchildren.
A funeral service for Mrs. Penley will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday at the Western Carolina State Veteran's Cemetery Chapel. Interment will follow in the Veteran's Cemetery, beside her husband, Samuel.
Her family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave.
