Owen "Junior" Kent, 70, of Fletcher, passed away on Friday, September 19, 2014 in an Asheville hospital.
A native of Madison County he was a son of the late Owen and Rachel Ball Kent. He had lived in Henderson County for the past 50 years. He was retired from Magnavox.
Mr. Kent attended Mud Creek Baptist Church and was a member of Biltmore Masonic Lodge #446, Asheville Scottish Rite Bodies and Oasis Shrine.
He is survived by his loving wife, Martha; two sons, Roger (Tammy) of Mars Hill and Tony (Regina) of Hot Springs; three grandchildren, Amber (Stephen), Ashley and Roger (Savannah) along with two great-grandchildren, Cooper and Emma; and his best friend, Scott Repass
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Reverend Dennis Thurman officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hills Cemetery.
His family will receive friends from 6:00 pm -8:00 pm Monday at the funeral home.

We were saddened to get the news of Junior’s passing in Sunday School. It is certainly our loss, but what a glorious time he is having with our Lord. The separation that death brings is never welcomed nor easy, but God is waiting to fill your hearts with peace and fellowship with Himself. May you rest in the comforting arms of Jesus as He surrounds you with His love. Our prayers will continue for each of your family.
