Donald Cambridge Decker Asheville – Donald Cambridge Decker, age 78, passed away on May 7th, 2015 at his home in Asheville, surrounded by his family. A native of this area, he was the son of the late Frank and Helen Decker. He is preceded in death by three sisters, Alice Bailey, Sara Radford, and Francis Holder, and a brother, Charles Decker. Surviving are his wife Ruth Hensley Decker, a son, Bryan Decker, two daughters, Diana Decker Mead and husband, Robert and Allison Decker Whitt and husband, Vince, a grandson, Caleb Whitt and his wife, Kathryn and a great granddaughter, Sutton Whitt, and his brother, James Decker and wife, Barbara. Donald loved the outdoors and greatly enjoyed an annual camping trip with a group of close friends with whom he had attended for nearly 30 years. His family meant everything to him, and he looked forward each year to enjoying a beach vacation with them. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 11, 2015 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. Interment will follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 PM on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at the funeral home.
