Frank Silvers, 85, died Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at Mission Hospital. A native of Yancey Co. and resident of Buncombe Co. since 1956, he was a son of the late Fred M. and Mae Silvers, and was also preceded in death by a sister, Anzelee Roland, and brothers, Leroy, Fred Jr., and Burgin Silvers. Mr. Silvers retired from Georgia Pacific after 19 years. He also worked with Silvers Brothers Construction. He was a member, former deacon, usher and Sunday school teacher at West Asheville Baptist Church. Mr. Silvers is survived by his wife of 63 years, Agnes Silvers; daughter, Janet Wall (Roy); sons, Danny Silvers (Peggy) and Donny Silvers (Angelica); seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; a brother Joe Silvers (Pat), and sister-in-law, Mary Rose Silvers. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday at West Asheville Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Stan Welch and the Rev. Tony Hooper officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. Friday at the church prior to the service In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Elevator Fund of West Asheville Baptist Church, 926 Haywood Road, Asheville, NC 28806, and/or to Western Carolina Rescue Ministries, PO Box 909, Asheville, NC 28802.

  1. Mrs. Silvers and family, I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Silvers. He was such a sweet and caring person. I remember him coming to see my grandmother, Sarah Hensley, every week when she was in the nursing home. I will never forget all the times he came to visit my mom, Martha Ball, at home during her time when she was battling cancer. Heaven now has a very special angel. He will never be forgotten. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. 2Thessalonians 2:16, 17 ‘? May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting comfort and hope which we don’t deserve, comfort your hearts with all comfort, and help you in every good thing you say and do.

  2. Dear Silvers family, I was so sad to hear about Mr Silvers. He was one of my favorites. He was so kind and thoughtful to all of our family. He was there right soon after my parents died. I so remember him and Mrs Christine Ingle teaching us Training Union at Grace Baptist Church. He was a soft spoken gentleman and I will surely miss him and his sweet smile.   7. Agnes and family, I really enjoyed the fellowship I have had in the past few years, eating Wednesday night supper, going to the rescue mission with him and times of just enjoying fellowship with him. II Corinthians 13:11b says ‘The God of Love and Peace shall be with you.

    My heart hasnt grieved so heavy since I lost my Jerry as it is now over the loss of your precious Frank. He has always been such a great christian influence in our families lives.   10. Thoughts and prays to the Silvers family’s. Frank was a joy to be around always with his a smile and caring nature. Frank will be missed by all that were blessed to have known him.

He influenced my life so much. When I saw him at West Asheville Baptist I immediately knew who he was. I am so thankful for him and how he taught me how important it is to live a christian life.     I sure do love Mr. Frank! He and I had many conversations about his and Colson’s coumadin levels! He would always make it a point to ask me about Colson’s heart and how he was doing each week.   24. My heartfelt prayers are going out to the family of Mr. Silver’s. Courtney and Todd are very dear to my heart and I know they will miss him dearly. I’m thankful that God can give much peace and grace at such a time as this. Always hold on to God’s promises that says he will never leave you nor never forsake you.
