Helen Meta Medford

Helen Meta Gentry Medford, 94, of Candler, died Saturday, August 29, 2015, at her home. A native of Buncombe Co., she was a daughter of the late John Robert and Jennie McElevy Gentry. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Clay Austin Medford. Mrs. Medford worked for American Enka, retiring in 1983. She is survived by her daughter, Sheila Medford; son, Ben Medford; grandson, Andrew Medford; and great-grandson, Adam Medford. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Austin Watts officiating. Interment will follow at White Rock Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
