Dee Shaw Foreman, 72, of Asheville, passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2004, at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Born in McComb, Mississippi on February 19, 1932, She was the daughter of the late Sherard C. and Emma K. Shaw. A graduate of Mississippi State University, she was retired from the Buncombe Baptist Association and taught school in Texas prior to moving to Asheville 34 years ago. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and worked within the church. Survivors include her husband, James J. Foreman; three children, Hollie F. Michelsen and her husband Kjell Arne Michelsen of Erwin, TN, Von J. Foreman and his wife Kathy of Hendersonville and Kris F. Head of Norcross, GA; four granddaughters, Brooke E. Foreman, Whitney P. Foreman, Lauren A. Head and Shelby J. Head; two brothers, Sherard R. Shaw of Clarksdale, MS and Kirk C. Shaw of Mobile, AL. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday at Grace Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. L Wayne Adkisson officiating. In lieu of flowers, Dee preferred contributions to be made to her church that she dearly loved, Grace Baptist Church, 718 Haywood Road, Asheville, NC 28806.

  9. Dee was a true Christian lady, a positive witness, and effective servant of Jesus Christ. I enjoyed working with her at the Baptist Association… she always had a big smile and an encouraging word. Our prayers are with the family.

    I just learned of Dee’s passing away. Please accept my deepest condolences. Dee and I met at Grace Baptist Church. I looked forward to seeing her on Sundays, her wonderful smile, our hugs and her always greeting me by my first name and asking how I was doing. May the Lord’s Peace and Comfort be with each of you.
