Robert L. "Marty" Daniel

robert l. daniel
A true angel of God was called home Tuesday, September 28, 2004. Marty was a very special person who touched so many lives. Marty had numerous health problems from birth but had sustained many of them through his faith in God and by the wonderful tender care given to him by his parents. He had been bedridden about 13 years and his health had declined in the past months so God took him home and healed him completely. He was a member of Starnes Cove Baptist Church and was baptized in his hospital bed around seven years ago. Marty was born February 26, 1957. He is the only child of Robert A. and Cleta D. Daniel of Homestead Road, Candler. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Dorothy S. Ford and Claude G. Dotson and his paternal grandparents A. Robert and Margaret R. Daniel. In addition to his parents he is survived by his very special uncle and aunt Ray and Betty Dotson of Hendersonville, Hick Daniel of Candler and several other uncles and cousins whom he loved very much. Marty had been in and out of hospitals many times and was recognized by many staff members whom he always had an admiration for. The family would like to acknowledge all the nurses in the MedSurg ICU at Mission Hospitals and all the doctors who treated him in the hospital, especially those who treated him on a regular basis. A funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. Charlie Sams at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 2, in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. His family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service and at other times will be at the residence on Homestead Road. Marty will be missed tremendously by everyone whose life he touched. He always had a big smile and a friendly hello for all. His favorite saying was “I love you from here to Heaven and Heaven is in my heart”. He is now safe in the great arms of Jesus where he always talked about. His faith was a wonderful testimony to everyone.

  2. Cleta & Bob, Words cannot express how sorry I am to hear about Marty. He was a true blessing to everyone that met him.He told me many times that he loved me all the way to heaven. As sad as it may be I know Marty has got the biggest smile on his face, because he talked about going to heaven and meeting Jesus. He is the lucky one and God did promise that we will see them again. I love you both and my prayers are with you.

    Love,
    Sonia and Family

  3. Cleta & Bob
Marty held a very special place in our hearts. We can still hear him saying ‘hey Little Red and Honeybun.’ We are so glad we were able to visit with him even though it was for a very short time. Marty will always be a part of our memories.

  4. Dear Cleta,

I meet you and Marty when you did the flowers for my wedding in 1986.
You both were so sweet and I remember you telling me that I looked like a scared cat the night before I got married.
Marty was always talkative when I came by to pick out flowers or pay the bill.
I’m sorry that you have lost the light in your life.
Take care and maybe I will drop by sometime and introduce you to my three children.
You will be in my thoughts.

    Michaelle Arrowood Norton

I was so sorry to hear about Marty’s recent illness and passing. Even though I probably only saw him every 6 mos. @ Dr. Chamber’s office, he was a very special person. Also mom and dad, you are very special too! You also will be rewarded one day like Marty has. Take care and come see us.

  11. Dear Cleta & Bob, We are so sorry to hear about Marty. We did not have the pleasure of knowing him but we know he must have been very special to you. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

  12. I was so shocked when I heard the news of Marty going home. I have not been able to get it off my mind. I can still see him setting in your flower shop listening to his police scanner. Everytime I was in he would give me a flower and tell me he loved me. He was always so positive about everything. He will be greatly missed. I only wish I lived closer so that I could be there. Just know that you all are in my thoughts and prayers.

  13. Cleta and Bob, We are so very sorry for your loss, yet joyful for Marty’s peace. From the Parham and Parker family we send all of our love, prayers, and godspeed to you and your family during this trying time. God bless your heart and may he wrap his arms around you now.

  14. Bob & Cleta,
Steve and I want to offer our love and prayers to you in the passing of your dear Marty. God has taken one of the sweetest roses to help brighten His beautiful garden. He’ll be waiting for you in a wonderfully whole body!!

  15. Dear Cleta,
I am so sorry for your & your husband’s loss, but we all have comfort in knowing he is God’s
loving arms. I really have good
memories of Marty all the way back
from the mid 60s. He was always a
joy to be around. Thanks for being
the family you are and God bless
and keep you and you all are in my
    prayers.

  16. Dear Cleta,
I don’t know if you remember me or not. I worked for VHP when I got the pleasure of meeting you and Marty. I just wanted to send my love and sympathy to you. Truly, Heaven has gained an angel, and you are an angel on earth for all the years you cared for him. May God Bless you and your family at this time.
