Burt Wesley Hutchinson

Burt Wesley Hutchinson, 65, of Leicester, died Thursday, January 7, 2016, at Mission Hospital. A native of Buncombe Co., he was a son of Lucille Tolley Hutchinson and of the late Burton W. Hutchinson. Mr. Hutchinson retired from Ball Glass and Nypro Plastics, where he worked as a maintenance engineer. He was a charter member of the Leicester Fire Department, and an original member of the Great Smokey Mountain Cloggers. Mr. Hutchinson was a beloved husband, father, and Poppy to his family and to those he considered family. Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife of thirty-three years, Loretta C. Hutchinson; son, Matthew Wesley Hutchinson and wife Vicki of Burnsville; daughters, Johanna Rose Hensley of Leicester, Mary Helena Laws and husband Ralph of Candler, and Donnie May Ross and husband Joey of Leicester; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Woody, Rockie, and Randy Hutchinson; sister, Linda Spivey; and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Family of Faith Fellowship Church, 213 Long Shoals Rd., Arden, with Pastor James King officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leicester Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 100, Leicester, NC 28748. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.
