Barbara Hawkins Sluder, 93, of Asheville, died on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at Aston Park Health Care Center.
A native of Leicester, Barbara was a daughter of the late Wallace O. and Annie Hawkins Hawkins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Daniel "Dan" Sluder, Sr.; her son, Ralph Daniel Sluder, Jr.; and her siblings, Marie Arrington, Paul Hawkins, and Mack Hawkins.
She had retired from Burlington Industries, where she worked for many years as a weaver.
Mrs. Sluder is survived by her daughter, Annie Lee Cole, four grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral service for Mrs. Sluder will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. with the Revs. Ricky Townsend and Joe Mullins officiating. Interment will follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
Her family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Flowers are acceptable but those who wish may make memorial donations to the Turkey Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, PO Box 570, Leicester, NC 28748.

We are so sorry to learn about Barbara’s passing. We share your sorrow having just lost Ila July 31. Cherish your memories. Just wanted you to know you are in our thoughts and prayers.
Shirley is in Mission and had over a 6 hour back surgery Wed. The doctor said her back was in a terrible shape. She will have to go to rehab in few days. Take care and again our sympathy.
