Edna Ashton Hill, 72, of Asheville, died Monday, October 17, 2016.
A native of Asheville, she was a daughter of the late Edwin and Laura Wallace Ashton. Mrs. Hill previously worked at Buck's Red Carpet Room, and was a former Girl Scout leader.
Mrs. Hill is survived by her husband, Chester Hill; daughter, Edna Nachelle Bitting and husband James; grandchildren; Edward Charles William Hensley and Eva Trechelle Dawn Bitting, and several special daughters, sons and grandchildren; and sister Dorothy Elizabeth Stelzer.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at Woodlawn Cemetery, with Pastors Henry Wallace and Mike Anderson officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Groce Funeral Home, Patton Ave.
The family will accept and appreciate flowers and prayers in her memory.
The family wishes to express special appreciation to the 10th floor nursing staff for the wonderful and loving care they gave to Mrs. Hill.

I’am sorry to here about Edna did’t know joy had died too live to far away praying for all of you.
I have known Edna for 10 yrs. I met her through my son. She was a very nice lady. She will be missed by quiet a few people, both family & friends.
I am so sorry! I loved her very much. Praying for you and your family.
Our prayers are with the family! Edna shopped with me for years at Bilo and she was such a sweet lady:-) She be missed by many. GOD bless you all.
