Era Robinson Cole, 105, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 18, 2017. Born April 17, 1911 in Yancey County to John Lee and Eva Scronce Robinson, Mrs. Cole lived most of her life in Buncombe County. She was a long-time member of Long Shoals Baptist Church. An avid gardener and homemaker, Mrs. Cole loved taking care of her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Cole, infant daughter Shelby Ann Cole and daughter, Jean Cole Williams. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ollie Robinson and Willard Robinson and by three sisters, Ailene Bradley, Ezetta Brown and Lena Anders. Survivors include three sons, Edward Cole (Anne) of Newberry, SC, John Cole (Anita) of Dysartsville, NC, Ken Cole (Marilyn) of Mills River, NC and one daughter, Brenda Nybro (Ray) of Averys Creek, NC; eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and several step-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Cilla Anders of Pineville, NC. Services will be held at 2:30 pm Sunday in Long Shoals Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Rearden and Rev. Coy Jeans officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Roberts Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Long Shoals Baptist Church, 661 Long Shoals Road, Arden, NC 28704. The family would like to thank the staff of the Laurels of Greentree Ridge for their excellent care of Mrs. Cole during the past three years. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.
