Dear Lee, Sue, and Family,

Lee and Dorland,
So sorry to hear of your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Mrs. Winkler was a wonderful person who brightened up the office with her smile and caring demeanor. She made an impact on many of us that carries over even today. Our prayers, thoughts, and fond memories are with you and the family.
I enjoyed the years I worked with Sandra at Vance. She truly loved the children and their well being. God bless you and you’re in my prayers.
I would like to send my condolences to Dorland and Lance. I have had the pleasure of being one of her students and working with her at Vance Elementary. Sandra was the most caring person one would ever want to know. May God bless this very special family.
My deepest sympathy to Sandra’s family. This is a loss keenly felt by all who knew her. I knew Sandra when she was a counselor at Vance Elementary. I teach kindergarten there. Sandra was a very caring and sympathetic person who always had time to talk. She was a dear person and I am very saddened to hear she has passed away. I know she is in God’s loving care and I pray this is a comfort to her family.
Love, Gail Ward
Dear Dorland & Lance,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you both. Even though we did not know Sandra intimately we know how very lovely she was. I will miss seeing her drive by our home in the mornings on her way to school. May God comfort you and keep you.
Sincerely,
Rick & Lane Huntsinger
I worked with Sandra in the last two years she was a counsellor at Vance. She offered strong, loving guidance to me as a new teacher in Grade One. I have since moved on to teach third grade in Buncombe County and often think of and heed Sandra’s advice. She was always optimistic whenever we consulted about a student. Many times, she would come to me after a particularly difficult meeting or event with a student to offer her warm understanding and valuable opinions. It was always fun ‘nattering’ with her at baseball games. Most recently, as I was decorating my Christmas tree, I had strong thoughts of her when I hung two ornaments she had given to me, a teddy bear and sled. I had no idea of her illness and was totally shocked to hear just yesterday of her death. Thank God for Sandra. Bless her and keep her. God comfort Dorland and Lance, her pride and joy.
I am blessed to have known her.
Dear Dorland, Lance, Lee and other family members,
We want you to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Sandra was such a lovely person.
We planned to attend the memorial service on the 26th but awoke that morning in a snowstorm. We heard that the service was beautiful.
Our love,
Ann & Ed
(Brittain cousins)
You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Sandra was a true Christian, a loving wife, fantastic mother, dedicated teacher, & a good friend & co – worker… & an avid Tourist fan!
When I called Mike to tell him she’d died, ( Terry Cole let me know as soon as he could ), Mike said, ‘ finally, she’s out of pain, & has gone home with her Lord.’
All of us who have known & loved her will miss her terribly.
Dorland… buy her seat at McCormick… she’ll be there.
Lance, your mom will always be with you. You’ll be surprised at how often, & where… but you’ll know she’s with you.
We love you. You’re in our thoughts & prayers. God’s peace & comfort to both of you, & to your family.
Love,
Judy & Mike Fastenau

I know the loss is particulary difficult at this time of year. Take comfort as you can in the fact that Sandra is no longer suffering and that He will help you through your suffering.
