Jeremy Shawn Hollifield, 37, of Candler, died Sunday, September 24, 2017.
A native of Mitchell Co., Jeremy was a son of Terry Nelson Hollifield and Jean McKinney Hollifield. He was a loving father to his daughters, Cassidy Burrell and Brooklyn Hollifield, and he is also survived by his sister, Stephanie Butler.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home.
My prayers and my heart goes out to Jeremy’s family, especially his children, mother and sister. He loved you all so much. I have known Jeremy since he was 18 when he came to work with us at WNC Pallet. Not only was he a great coworker, l am honored to have called him my friend. Jeremy, I will miss you. May God bless you and your family.
I’m sorry for the family and friends of Jeremy. Anyone that had the plessure of knowing him, knew what a wonderful man he was, and so full of life. He truly loved his family and kids. He was a great friend and like a brother to me. Love you brother you will be missed!

Loved this boy with all my heart. He was my heart-adopted son. I’ll miss hearing him call me momma J. He was taken way too soon. My prayers for his mom, sister, Kristen and most of all his beautiful girls.

I am so sorry for y’all loss. You all are in my thoughts and prayers. I loved Jeremy more than words could express. I truly regret not getting to make a trip back to the mountains to see him before this tragedy happened. He was a one in a million person and had the best personality and biggest heart I have ever known anyone to have.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Jeremy’s kids and family. He was the sweetest,kindest, and loving person I knew. He was like a son to me. I have known him for almost 30 years and never did you see Jeremy that he did not have a smile on his face. He always found a way to make you smile. He will always have a special place in my heart, I will miss him deeply.

How does one even begin to convey the shock and sadness of the loss of dear ‘Jeremiah’. I knew him for almost 20 years and he was like a little brother to me. Jeremy was a kind hearted, gentle, loving soul. He was a very hard worker and put his all into everything he did. He loved his family very, very much. He made it known to all that his family was his top priority and focal point in his life. Especially his girls…Brooklyn, Cassie, have no doubt that your Daddy loved you with every ounce of his being. God has a plan and purpose for each and every one of us and on Sunday morning, September 24, the Lord called Jeremy home. We experience all kinds of emotions after a loss and the Lord will give us the strength, comfort, and courage to carry on. Jeremy was a like a father to me when I was a kid he looked out for me so much from the time I was about 7 years old all the way down too when I turned 15 16, when I was a kid Jeremy used to always talk to me when I got mad at my brothers or my parents he was such a good guy and I cannot believe he’s gone he will truly be missed by everyone he touched
If u did not know Jeremy u should have. He was a awesome friend. If u needed someone to talk to he was always there to listen. No matter what u went thru he never turned his back. We lived together for a while and had some awesome times. He had a very big heart . I will never forget the times we had those long rides to work in the morning. I love you Jeremy thanks for being my friend and my shoulder to lean on. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
I’ll always cherish the memories I have of Jeremy and will never forget him! My heart has not hurt this bad since I lost my mother many years ago. She called Jeremy her Smokey and loved him as if he were her own son. My heart goes out to his family especially his girls! Please let me know if there is anything I can do. ❤ you always my friend!

I for one loved him so dearly,he was such an amazing dad and an all round wonderful person. I was so shocked when i heard that he passed i couldn’t rap my head around it and to be honest i still can’t. I wish he wasn’t taken so soon, but God has a plan for everyone and so i feel like he needed a angel and he got one my dad was one of the most coolest dads around.He used to tel me not to be sad whenever he died because he would be in a better place.
