  23. My heart goes out to the family. As much as those of us who were Tom’s friends will miss him, it is nothing compared to what the family is feeling. May God comfort you as only He can as you grieve the loss of this son/father/brother/ grandfather/uncle. He was one of a kind. He always had a sweet smile and kind word to share. He could be quite the prankster at times. He was just a lot of fun to be around. He was one of a kind. Tom you will be greatly missed but so glad that your suffering here on earth is over. Rest in peace my friend.

  24. I remember Tom as being a very serious young man in his studies when a student at Reynolds. It saddens me when I read an obituary of one of them. It sounds as if he accomplished much and had a good career. Prayers for his family and sisters that God will give them Grace, Peace and Comfort in the coming days as they face life without him.
    Love in Christ,

  27. Charlene,
I am so sorry to learn of Tom’s passing. The outpouring of comments here show how much he was loved. You and your entire family will be in my thoughts.

  28. Toy and I send our deepest condolences to Charlene, Becky, Lisa and the entire family. I had the joy of living with the Noblett family when I was a senior at Lee Edwards High School. Tom was about eight years old. During my career in the Air Force I was able to follow Tom’s tour of duty. He was an outstanding airman and went on to serve the citizens of Western North Carolina at Mission Hospital. Someone once wrote; the people we meet in life may never remember what we said but, will always remember how we made them feel. As for me, Tom always made me feel valued and loved. His memory will always bring a smile to my heart and face.

  29. Lisa and the Noblett family, I am so sorry for your loss. Nothing can prepare us for losing a loved one and you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

  30. Tom will be missed for many reasons and he taught us all the ‘golden rule’.
Tom was very positive all the time and even during his greatest trial, he lived his life helping others.
He left a beautiful legacy which can never be taken away.
God’s blessings be with his family.

  31. Tom was, and is, a fine man, classmate, and friend. In his honor, i shall raise a dram of Glenlevvit, and toast to days of great things.

  32. Tom

My prayers for your loving family. Stand strong Team Tom. Our hearts will meet again.

  34. Lisa and family, so sorry for your loss. My deepest sympathies going out to your during this difficult time. You all are in my thoughts and prayers.

  35. This one breaks the heart.

I’ve known Tom (Tommy) since I moved to East Asheville in January 1975. We lived just a few doors down from each other on W. Maple Drive, and we were friends in high school. Over the years I saw Tom off and on – at one point when running into each other in 1996 we noted that both of our sons were born in the same year and both were VERY tall — and blonde. 🙂

Twice in my life health conditions pointed to heart issues, and twice I was sent to the Echo Lab @ Mission to have a cardiac stress test. I was terrified. Tom (Tommy) set me up for the test both times, and kept calmly reassuring me ‘that everything would be ok.’ I am happy that his dedicated work and lifelong devotion to his craft was recognized by Mission.

The last time I saw Tom (Tommy), my mom Peggie and I ran into him @ Ingles (a place where we ran into him more than once). As usual I gave him a big bear hug and said ‘Tommy!!! It’s so good to see you!’

If you’re wondering why I keep putting Tommy in parentheses… well, that last time I saw Tommy he said: ‘Kathy, I think you’re the only person who has called me Tommy since high school…’ But he also smiled and told me it was ok that I called him Tommy and not Tom.

I am praying for his son, his grandson, and his family.
Grief is a personal journey, travel it at your own pace. For someone so dedicated to the human heart, Tom had most certainly the Biggest Heart of All. He will be sorely missed, but dearly remembered by all of us who knew him.

I’m sorry about the long entry, but sometimes a person’s *being* on this Earth warrants many words. Tommy was one of those unique people.

Rest Easy with the Angels Tommy.
    You will Never be forgotten.

    ~Kathy

  36. To Tom’s Family, My deepest regret & sorrow to hear of Tom. I had the honor of serving with Sgt Tom Noblett in 1977 in the USAF. USAF Hospital, Chanute AFB IL. We were roommates & friends, the best of friends! He served his country and fellow Airmen with Pride & Honor. He was so good as an EMT at our emergency room. His skilled and trusted hands helped so many people to include in my memory a little girl who had been bitten by a dog on the face. There was no need to call the surgeon in as Tom was on duty & was trusted by all. I just want to let you all know that Tom was a caring & giving man even in his youth. Although we didn’t stay in touch over the past 40 years, I have never forgotten the best roommate I had & all the fun we had from my first rock concert to pig roasts to countless other adventures. Tom did it right,…he always did it right. His heart was as big as Texas, & I would know,..I am from there. Thank you for the honor of knowing you and I will see you again.
