John V. Edmunds

John Venable Edmunds, 80, of 136 Challedon Drive, Candler, died Saturday, February 5, 2005, at St. Joseph Hospital. Mr. Edmunds was born in Charleston, WV, and was a son of the late Paul Gray and Juliette Eskew Edmunds. A graduate of Leesburg High School in Leesburg, FL, he attended Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia; he earned his BA at Centre College of Kentucky, Danville, KY, and attended Presbyterian Theological Seminary, Louisville, KY. He served in the US Army during WW II and in the National Guard. He was retired as a Library Loan Reference Specialist in 1993 from the Library of Congress in Washington, DC and was a member of Church of the Pilgrims, Washington, DC. Surviving are his wife, Hazel Reeves Edmunds and a son, Ian R. Edmunds of Candler. A memorial service will be held at2:00 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with the Reverend John V. Moore officiating. Burial will follow at the cemetery.
