Asheville Butterfly TrailPhilip Ray Young, 82, of Asheville, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at Mission Hospital.
A native of Yancey County, Mr. Young was a son of the late Jack L. and Pauline Hensley Young. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Laura, and brother, Donald.
Mr. Young was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and he retired from Highway Construction. He was a member of Oakley Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Jo Ann Hixon Young; daughter, Kimberly Hipp and husband Danny; son, Donald Young and wife Melissa; grandsons, Dillon Hipp (Megan), Jarrett Hipp (Victoria), Caleb Young, and Atticus Young; and brothers, Jim Young (Priscilla) and David Young (Linda).
Private family graveside services will be held on Tuesday, January 19, at the Will M. Young Cemetery, with Pastor Allen Rash officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Will M. Young Cemetery Fund, c/o Yvonne Boone, 8958 NC80 North, Bakersville, NC 28705.

We always enjoyed seeing Phil every Sunday morning at church. We laughed about our masks, Phil always had a nice one and we had the same cardiologist. Phil will be missed but he has just changed addresses. We will see Phil again!
