Asheville- Bruce Emory, of Asheville, passed away Friday, July 9, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.
A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Francis C. Emory and Virginia L. Emory. Bruce was also preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Bobbie Adams Emory as well as two brothers, David and Robert Boone.
Bruce was a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Navy and served on the U.S.S. Bausell. He was also owner and operator of Emory Trucking in Center, TX.
He is survived by five sisters, Gwen Weeke (David) of Greenville, SC, Sharon Biddix of Weaverville, Frances Smith (Bob) of Asheville, Lynn Culberson of Arden and Jane Johnson of Bend, OR; one grandson, Adam Bradshaw of Spring, TX, Kevin Vande Kamp, who was like a son to Bruce, of Colmesneil, TX as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would tike to express their genuine gratitude to the entire staff at the Charles George VA Medical Center for their compassion and tireless care of Bruce during his time there.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.

I’m so glad I had the chance to get to know you for the last few years while you were living in North Carolina. I’m even happier that my children got to spend quality time with you. They remember the Sunday morning breakfasts. They remember ordering pizza for them. You made quite the impact on their little lives. They’ll never forget their GREAT GREAT Uncle Bruce, and neither will I or Frank. Thanks for your service to this country. You will be missed.

Bruce was always very friendly and kind. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
Uncle Bruce had the manliest voice I’d ever heard. I always felt safe when he was around…no one would dare mess with us when that big, burly man was around.
