Mildred E. McElrath Massey, 89, passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Mission Hospital.
Mrs. Massey was born in Asheville to the late James and Ida Melton McElrath. She was also preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Massey, a son, Michael Eugene Massey, a grandson, Ronald Youngblood, Jr. and a son-in-law, Al Braddock.
Mildred retired from Three Mountaineers Manufacturing after 41 years of service and then from Buncombe County Schools with 15 years of service. She was a member of Skyland First Baptist Church and she loved her family dearly and loved family gatherings.
She is survived by her three children, Jerry Massey (Cyndi), Dianna Braddock and Cathey Trimnal; a sister, Faye Chrisman; six grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Skyland First Baptist Church with Pastors Robert Ponder and Perry Brindley officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 at the Church.
Burial will follow at Shepherd Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Skyland First Baptist Church Family Life Center, 2115 Hendersonville Road, Arden, NC 28704.
