Roger D. Elliston

Born in:
Meridian, MS
Resided in:
Arden, NC
Roger D. Elliston, age 64, passed instantly in an auto accident on his way to work in Charlotte on Monday, September 13th.
Roger loved life to the fullest, always able to see the good in everyone, the upside to any hard time or stumble. Everyone who knew Roger saw he was open, honest, and kind.
Roger graduated from the University of Georgia Dental School in Augusta. He had a passion to help people and thoroughly enjoyed meeting and treating everyone in his chosen profession of Dentistry. This year he had practiced with Rush Sunar in Charlotte and they became fast friends.
He loved being out with the guys golfing. He was a really good golfer, complete with his full fist pump. He was a great cook and loved to serve friends with his Roger flourish. Everyone felt comfortable around him.
Roger was deeply connected to his Mother. He fussed over her especially every Holiday, more so on Mother’s Day. He treated her like a queen, with utmost tenderness and respect. All his girlfriends have said they felt the same from him.
He worked out an hour a day and read his Bible every morning for the last 35 years. To start his day the last 6 months, he sent his brother his picture in his white coat at his desk and a daily Bible verse. “See how much our heavenly Father loves us, for He allows us to be called his children.”
Roger had a singular zest for life. Everything was more fun when he was there. He was everyone’s favorite “little brother”. The world was a better place with Roger in it.
He was preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Margaret Elliston and his oldest brother, Bruce Elliston. He is survived by his brother Winston Leon Elliston; nephew Andrew Elliston; nieces Lauren Elliston and Audrey Ulke; nephews Jonathan, Brian and Joel Elliston; great nephews Luke, Jonathan and Jacob and great niece Jude.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm, Sunday, September 26th on Melvin and Margaret’s Farm, 173 Avery’s Creek Road, Arden.
In lieu of flowers please make a contribution to the charity of your choice in Roger’s memory.

Long ashes to you, Roger. Thank you for being my friend.
Good man…never knew what Roger would show up wearing or driving at our store. Very unique individual! He was a lover of life, always ready for a new adventure. Will miss seeing you and engaging in interesting conversations with you . Rest In Peace, my friend.
My husband and I were friends of Roger’s brother, Bruce. We were able to share many holidays and other events with the family. Would love to watch Roger interact and tease with Margaret, his mom. It was obvious they had a special bond. He was comfortable to be with and always made all in the room feel like they belonged.
To the family: We cannot begin to express how sorry we are. We know that Roger will leave a big hole in your lives. I hope you get some comfort from the memories that are being left here on this site. Leon, extra hugs for you.
