Stephen was born July 19, 1953, in Asheville, NC to parents Clyde and Adelia Maxwell. Stephen spent his life in Asheville and worked in construction having built many homes in the area. He took immense pride in maintaining his family property and has kept it beautifully maintained for decades. Stephen in his lifetime enjoyed hunting, raising dogs, mountain biking, hiking, being in nature, landscaping and socializing with the people he loved. He enjoyed helping friends and neighbors.
Stephen is survived by his daughter Heidi Zaffos (Phil) of Marietta, GA, grandchildren Adelaide and Ezra; sister, Debbie Sammeth (Rus) of Greenville, SC; niece, Lisa Rourk (Keith) of Greenville SC, and nephew Scott Cornwell of New York, NY.
Stephen was a humble and devoted man with a childlike faith, resolute integrity and an unwavering loyalty. His greatest joys were his 2 grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the John F. Keever Solace Center, where Steve entered his heavenly home.

I remember Steve serving on the Camp Daniel Boone staff when I was a camper there. Prayers for the family
