Flora Evangeline Fuller Taylor, 93, died May 7, 2022.

She was born June 10, 1928, the youngest of eight children born to Harvey Edwin and Fanny Whiteside Fuller. She received a degree in Registered Nursing from Mission Hospital School of Nursing in 1951 and spent her career in health care facilities in Western North Carolina and Florida, taking time out to care for her father in his later years. She was operating room head nurse at Aston Park Hospital for many years until they closed. She was a born healer and, even after dementia started taking its toll, did not lose her nursing skills, as she continued to care for those around her.

Family and friends loved Flora for her wicked, quick wit, positive attitude, and non-complaining practical outlook on life. She was a demon at Scrabble and a lively, interesting addition to any gathering, always willing to do her part. Her smile was constant.

Flora was predeceased by her parents; seven brothers and sisters; husband, Daniel M. Taylor; son, David Taylor, Sr., and his wife Judy; and daughter, Laura Taylor. She is survived by daughter, Susan Taylor Scott and her husband, Gerald; grandson, David Taylor Jr; granddaughters, Stephanie Redmond (Andy) and Leslie Geiger (Kevin); great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was also loved by several nieces and nephews.

The family appreciates the care given to Flora by the staff at Maggie Valley Nursing and Rehab.

Services will be held Sunday, May 15 at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. in Asheville, NC. The visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. followed by the service at 3:00 p.m. Private burial will take place at Fuller Family Cemetery.
