Ginny Hirshom

Iva Virginia “Ginny” Hirshom, 90, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.

A native of Fairview, Ginny was a daughter of the late William David and Pearl Agnes Owenby Harris. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Ronald Hirshom; sisters, Mary Wright and Patricia Henley; and half-brother, Thomas Richard “Bub” Owenby.

Mrs. Hirshom loved many things: nature and being outdoors, the arts, reading, baking, and socializing with her friends. A faithful woman, she also loved studying God’s word.

She will be remembered as a loving mother survived by her children, Barrie Ribeiro, Jamie McLaughlin, Dawn Hirshom, William “Bill” Hirshom, Michael Hirshom and Joel Hirshom; grandchildren, James, Ronald and Gina Ribeiro, and Kyle and Ryan McLaughlin; and many nieces and nephews.

The graveside service for Mrs. Hirshom will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 455 Hollywood Rd., Fairview, NC 28730.
