Born in: Liberty, New York
Resided in: Asheville, North Carolina

Linda Blatchly Kovach walked through the gates of Heaven to be with Jesus our Savior on May 11, 2025. She passed in her home in Asheville, NC with her family by her side. She was 79 years old.

Linda was born in Liberty, NY and grew up in the northeast where she attended business school. She then lived in the Greenville, SC area for almost 50 years. Linda had a fulfilling career as an executive assistant first at her children’s school, then in other industries, ending her career as a purchasing assistant at Bowater. After retiring, she volunteered her time at Taylors Free Medical Clinic. Linda enjoyed her Silver Sneakers class at the YMCA and her class at Taylors First Baptist Church.

Linda loved to sew. She became a quilter and was interested in learning different techniques. She enjoyed music and constantly played her 25-disc CD changer at home. Linda had a knack for raising violets and had a window bench covered in various plants. She loved to bake, and friends and family enjoyed her delicious goodies. However, nothing made her happier than time with her granddaughter, Ayla. Linda grew up very close with her grandmother and loved the role of being Ayla’s Grammy in turn. She moved to Asheville, NC in 2024 to be closer to family.

Linda was a model of resilience and strength with doses of creativity and stubbornness mixed in. She took whatever challenges life threw at her with grace and her chin up. She taught her kids and granddaughter that we could do whatever we put our mind to and that we could be anything in life that we wanted. She was our biggest champion. Linda was a valiant fighter against Multiple Sclerosis. Throughout her life she was an active and frequent top fundraiser for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Her determination kept her moving – in whatever fashion needed- far beyond the time most would have given in to limitations. At the time she passed she was still living independently just around the corner from her family.

Linda is survived by her daughter, Robin (Kovach) Launius, son-in-law Doug Launius, and granddaughter Ayla, as well as her son Brian Kovach and his wife Mandi. She will also be dearly missed by her older sister Althea Blatchly, her younger sister Pam Baker and her cousin Michael Panio.

We will celebrate the life of Linda Kovach at Taylors First Baptist Church in Taylors, SC on Monday, June 16, 2025. (Time TBD and will be updated soon.) We look forward to hearing your favorite memories and your connections to her. In lieu of flowers Linda and the family would prefer donations to The National MS Society Linda Kovach Memorial Fund or the Connie Maxwell Children’s Ministries.
