It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Don Linn on December 20, 2025, in Raleigh, North Carolina, surrounded by his family.
Don was born in Asheville, North Carolina, to Emanuel Ted Linn and Annabelle Weinkle Linn. His grandparents were Leo and Katherine Trail Weinkle and Louis and Anna Feldman Linn. He was the youngest of three children.
He attended high school at Peekskill Military Academy and graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill, Phi Beta Kappa, with a degree in Radio, Television, and Motion Picture Production where he met his wife of more than 50 years, Susan Linn. After beginning a successful film production company, he decided to return home to help his father run the family business. He spent the rest of his working career in service to his family and the family businesses. When he retired, he passed the company to his brother and nephews.
Don enjoyed Boy Scouts, where he was a member of The Order of the Arrow, as well as coin collecting, watching UNC sports, and Spider Solitaire. He briefly served on the board of Congregation Beth ha-Tephila and Big Brothers Big Sisters. Don took great pride in caring for his mother, father, and other family members during his lifetime. In his retirement, he enjoyed weekly family dinners, a road trip across the country, visiting national parks and museums, puzzles, and spending time with his wife, children, and grand pets.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Ficker Linn; his children, Ryan Linn and his wife Heather Linn, and Melissa Linn and her husband Kevin VanGorder; his sister, Patricia Linn Lipsey; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Emanuel Ted Linn, his mother, Annabelle Weinkle Linn, his brother, Louis Kenneth Linn, and many furry friends.
