Born in:
Brooklyn, New York
Resided in:
Flag Pond, Tennessee
Peter Webb Glasser was born in Brooklyn, New York, to Jacob and Hazel Glasser, and grew up in Menlo Park, New Jersey alongside his older brother, John. He was raised in a family shaped by skill, service, and creativity. His father, a master carpenter, had a small business building homes. From his uncle Howard, a photographer, Peter learned the art of seeing—how to frame light, work in a darkroom, and capture quiet beauty, a passion that stayed with him throughout his life.
As a boy, Peter was a Scout alongside his brother John, and together they rose to the ranks of Star Scout and Eagle Scout, guided by values of service, discipline, and integrity. He learned the dignity of work early, taking his first job at twelve or thirteen years old at a small neighborhood grocery store.
Peter came from a proud lineage of veterans. His father served as a Merchant Marine during World War II and later as a warrant officer and head carpenter. His uncles, Vinny and Phil, also served during World War II. Carrying this legacy forward, Peter chose to serve his country and became a decorated Vietnam War Veteran. He completed two tours from 1966 to 1968 and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds sustained in service, a testament to his courage and sacrifice.
Following the war, Peter devoted his life to healing and compassion. Alongside his former wife, Diana Brady, he ran a holistic natural healing center, guided by a deep desire to help others. His care extended to all living beings — he lived as a vegetarian, reflecting his lifelong kindness toward animals and the earth.
Peter is survived by his partner, Dina, his children Becky, Ginny, and Brian, his grandchildren Trent, Patricia, Tristen, Taylor, Kylie, Kaylee, and Brylee, his great-grandchildren Luke, Aurora, and Damon, and his step-children Rudy and Kinga. He will be remembered for his quiet strength, his generous spirit, and the enduring love he shared with family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life beginning at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at Groce Funeral Home’s Lake Julian location, 72 Long Shoals Road, Arden, NC 28704.
