Edward Ellis “Ed” Seabough, 93, of Hendersonville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2026, at The Greens Hendersonville. A beloved brother, uncle, and friend, Ed will be warmly remembered for his radiant smile, infectious humor, and unwavering positivity that touched everyone around him.
Born on October 27, 1932, in Aurora, Missouri, Ed was the son of the late Robert and Marguerite Seabough. He was preceded in death by his sister, Margery Hathorn, and brothers Jerry and Bill Seabough.
Ed’s love of learning and creativity guided his remarkable life. He attended Southwest Baptist University, Southwest Missouri State University, and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Early in his career, he served as a student missionary for the Baptist Home Mission Board in the Oregon-Washington area, where he began to weave his love for faith, writing, and music into a lifelong vocation. Over time, his artistic gifts blossomed into the creation of lyrics for musicals performed at major Baptist conventions across the United States. His songs found their way into Baptist hymnals, and his books encouraged generations of young people to strengthen their Christian faith and values.
A true citizen of the world, Ed’s curiosity led him across continents. He loved immersing himself in other cultures, collecting antiques and art pieces along the way. Later, he transformed his passion for travel into a fulfilling career as a travel agent for large church groups, working with Wilcox Travel and Travelink. Ed’s blend of creativity and exploration brought joy to countless people who shared his love of discovery and fellowship.
Beyond his work, Ed loved cheering for college football and spending quiet moments surrounded by literature, art, and music. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Asheville, where his bright spirit and ready kindness endeared him to his church family and friends alike.
A service celebrating Ed’s life will be held on March 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel at Groce Funeral Home, 72 Long Shoals Road, Arden, North Carolina. A lunch will follow, and all who knew and loved Ed are warmly welcome.
