E.J. Ball, 75, of 144 Maple Ridge Road, Candler, died Saturday, August 6, 2005.
Mr. Ball was born in Madison County and was a son of the late Elbert James Ball, Sr. and Lou Georgia Ball. He was also preceded in death by a brother Russell Ball and a sister Faye Osborn.
He was an Army veteran and was retired from WNC Pallet Co. More recently he was associated with Bentley Security.
He was a member of Maple Ridge Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife Martha Hudgins Ball; two daughters, Susan Ball of the home and Tonya Reeves and her husband Mark of Candler; a grandson Cameron Crowder; four sisters, Roba Lee Bailey and Barbara Roberson of Candler, Lucille Cauble of Fairview and Ella Baldwin of Houston, TX, and a brother James Ball of Candler.
A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Sprouse officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Buncombe County Veterans Council Memorial Team at Pisgah View Memorial Park.
His family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to help with expenses.
Dear Ball family, We are going to miss EJ on Friday nights. Enka athletics will never be the same without him there to support us! Please know how important he was to us all and that we will miss him! Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

E.J. was a blessing to all. He supported me along with many other former Enka High football players and I along with the rest of the Enka community will miss him dearly. God Bless you all in your time of loss
Mr. Ball was a great man, he used to come watch me play football when I was in high school. He was a blessing and I know he will be missed, but don’t weep in sadness, weep in joy for look what he will be enjoying up in Heaven.
