  26. My condolences to the family of Larry. I met Larry on one of our many Patriot Guard Rides. He was a man of vast knowledge and keen foresight. I could sit and listen to him for hours and learn volumes. I immediately befriended Larry as he had a gentle spirit that I identified quickly. He spent many hours in honor of our Veterans at funerals, welcoming home parade rides, and helping people out he didn’t know. He would take vacation time and ride hundreds of miles to stand in line for hours to support our fallen heroes. This is the type of man Larry was. I feel honored just to have known him. Larry and I rolled many miles together and I will miss him dearly. Rest easy my brother and I’ll see you again soon.

  27. Larry,
Rest in Peace my brother, your mission here on earth is accomplished. You will NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. We shall meet again, in the winds of Heaven. May your family find comfort and peace knowing we shall all meet again. You will remain alive in our memories.

  45. Family, We love you. We know that the same grace of God that saved us, will sustain you during this time of sorrow.

Larry was one of the people who influenced the person that I have become. At a time when our family was falling apart and my life as a child was on track for disaster; Larry brought us back to the Lord and under his guidance I was saved, Amen. At that point in 1978 my life changed and the Lord took control and still leads my family today. Larrys caring visit to our home at that time began the Lords healing process that will impact the Stanberry family for generations.

As an adult Larry married Jill and I. Larry taught us as our pastor and challenged us to live for Christ.

We will always cherish the memories we have of time with your family. Going to church, playing cards, having meals and the fellowship. We learned that it can be fun to be a Christain.

Thank you God for giving us Larry, if only for a time.

Until we meet again my Brother,

We spent many hours with you all and the memories are precious times that I thank God for. May God continue to use Larry thru the many people that he taught, and shared his life with. May God comfort you all as you go thru this time of loss. Larry and I,with a few other men were once on a mountian top for for a short period of time, someday we will do it again. May God bless you Larry my brother.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Even though we have lost touch through the years, I treasure my childhood memories in North Carolina when my family would visit you. My Mom thought the world of Larry. The Lord keeps gathering wonderful angels in heaven. It is hard on earth without our love ones but he is an awesome God and gives us strength. Donna, I remember singing with you and having so much fun as young girls. I always wanted a sister and felt so alone after I lost my Mom. However, God doesn’t give us more than we can handle. He always has a plan. May you three embrace each other with support during this difficult time and be there for your Dad. He will need you tremendously. Love you all.

How do you express your feelings for someone who meant so much to your family. He was more than our pastor. He was a friend always knew what to say and how to make you strive to be a better person. We will always have a special place in our hearts for each of you and all our great memories when you were at Cresview. God bless each of you your in our thoughts and prayers.

  127. What a sad and difficult time you all must be having. My prayer is that God will wrap you all in His arms and give peace that only He can give. What a blessing Larry was to all who knew him. And what a gift he had for sharing the word of God with others. I know he will be missed but take comfort in knowing that today he is walking the streets of Glory with the one who died for him. What a day that will be! My thoughts and prayers are with each of you! He will meet you all again someday at the gates of pearl! Hold fast to the memories and to the hope that one day you will be reunited! God bless each of you!

  128. I have only fond memories of Larry and his family from over 20 years ago when he was our neighbor and pastor at Crestview. I know he touched many lives in very positive ways and his loss will be felt throughout several communities. Our prayers are with his family.

  129. Brody, Heidi and Bam Bam,
I have been reminiscing in my mind about all the fun we had when we were growing up at Crestview. We had lots of good times together and we also had lots of memorable occasions we could conjour again, but the one thing I do remember about my childhood was having your dad playing a part in my life and what a tremendous impact he had on me. He was a loving dad, a gentle man, was strong in his discipline with us (lol) but very strong in his love for his family and those he was close to. I felt close to your dad and admired him very much. Just last week he yelled at me across the campus at PHS, ‘Hey Michael my friend.’ Many years have passed but it seems as though yesterday I would see him in the yard with the three of you, making each of you a part of his life. Many roads have been traveled since that time, but his love for each of you continued as he made his way to special events, like Heidi, when you married Mike.
Brody, the wonderful work you continue to carry on in Andrews. Gina, When you married Wes.
Bam Bam, your commitment to the athletics dept at PHS. I could continue to share these observations with you, but you already know them. I just want you to know how much your dad meant to me as well as his love being visible and evident for each one of you. Now it is your time to carry on as he would want us to and carry his love with you each and every day. You all have characteristics of your mom and dad and you are richly blessed by their love and commitment to each of you. I love you with a very special part of my heart. May each of you have strength, peace and integrity in the days to come.
I can hear him say ‘Carry on Folks, don’t let me interupt.’
Much love to each of you during this time~~~ Michael Conard

  130. I was so sorry to hear of your loss.I didn’t know Larry that well but I do know that Freedom Baptist Church loved him.May God Bless All of you at this time.

  131. Holloway Family-
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this unexpected loss. Larry impacted so many lives and he will be missed by so many people who were uplifted by his words and smile. Heidi, Brody, Brandon, Gina and Crystal … don’t mourn, but find joy in the fact that your father was a man of deep integrity and your loss is shared by the entire community of people who Larry touched on a daily basis.

  132. I am sorry to hear of your loss. I am sorry that I can not attend services for the man who brought me to Christ. It was the best to hear that booming voice coming from the pulpit on Sundays at NMH. I was in Church Sunday in Raleigh thinking how I missed his message and voice. I was also thinking of the ol’ timey day when I was Baptized by Larry, (wishing I still could fit in my overalls). Thank all of you for your support of my walk and if I can assist in some way, please get in touch.

  133. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I have so many fond memories or growing up with you all. I will never forget Larry as he was my pastor for much of my childhood and he baptized me. I know we will see him again one day in Heaven! Love you all.

  134. To Larry’s Loved Ones,
We are so sorry for Larry’s untimely leaving this earth but we know where he is and will see him again on that I am sure. May God’s presence be felt by you at this time and remember you can or will be able to see him again. Love-Ken and Wanda Weatherman

  135. I worked for many years with Mutual Of Omaha and was blessed by having known Larry on a professional as well as a personal basis and am proud to have known him and he blessed my life in many ways as well. He will be sorely missed but is in his final resting place above us now.

  136. May God give your family grace and peace in this time of loss. Larry’s in God’s presence and receiving his much deserved rewards. Heaven just received another gaurdian angel.

  137. Beth called and told me of Larry’s passing. May God hold each of you up and be with you during this time of loss. During your grief, just remember that I’m sure Margaret was there to welcome him home.

  145. In the late eighties, I was a volunteer chaplain at the Sheriff’s Dept. where I worked with Ray Woodby and Larry Holloway.

We are so sorry to hear of his passing but not sorry that he belonged to the Lord and is with Him! We praise the Lord you have this comfort. And praise the Lord too that He understands and knows everything. One day we will all be together with the Lord for all eternity.

May the Lord’s Spirit comfort you and keep you especially during this time.

  155. We are sorry for the loss of your father. May God be with all of you during your time of grief and give you peace in knowing that he is walking streets of gold.

  156. Dear Holloway Family,
I can’t begin to tell you the enormous positive impact that Larry had on me as a young person at Crestview. He was used of God to touch and minister to so many people. I will miss him dearly, but find comfort that he no longer has to imagine but is standing in the presence of our Almighty God. Larry married my husband, Brooks, and I in 1986 which will always be special, but his encouragement, time and tenderness as my pastor has left a handprint on my heart forever. I know that God will comfort you all because His word assures us of his desire to care for His children. I am praying that even in your sadness that God will be glorified.

  157. Dear Family, I was pleased to meet Larry one final time during our recent furlough, in order to thank him for the ways he touched my life. Larry’s zeal for sharing the gospel was infectious to me as a young adult. He enjoyed sharing the gospel with everyone he came in contact with. Because of Larry’s example and investment in teaching me how to lead people to Christ, I’m now sharing Christ’s glorious gospel with the people of Indonesia. I grieve with you because of Larry’s death, but rejoice with you that God used him to impact each of our lives.

  158. Holloway Family:

Van and I will never have another friend like Larry. Our grief is still deep and very painful. Whenever I hear the big cycles on the main road I still expect him to come roaring into the driveway with a big smile and a hug to match. We are praying for each of you and trust God our Father to heal your hearts as we also wait for our hearts to heal. I know we will see him in heaven but for now our hearts still ache.

  159. If tears could build a stairway
    And memories were a lane
I would walk right up to heaven
    And bring you back again

    No farewell words were spoken
    No time to say goodbye
You were gone before we knew it
    And only God knows why

Our hearts still ache in sadness
    And secret tears still flow
What it meant to lose you
    No one can ever know

But now we know you want us
To mourn for you no more
To remember all the happy times
Life still has much in store

    Since you’ll never be forgotten
    I pledge to you today
A hallowed place within our hearts
    Is where you’ll always stay!

I LOVE YOU DADDY and MISS YOU!!

  181. I was never so shocked to see that Larry had passed. I got to know him at a revial at Yadkin Baptist Church. He was a great man of God. I remember the visit to Canton and when he relocated to another church. That is where I took my wife to meet him and Ms Vickie. I remember the visit to Maggie Valley and he came to Three Pines Motel and we all went to eat breakfast. Oh what memories. When my wife Vickie Grubb Rogers passed in May 29 1999 he came to Salisbury N.C for the visit and to be there for my family. You all are special. Another fond memory I have is going to Canton and taking a $2.00 bill for Brandon Brody and Hedi. I did not get to meet the other girls. Ms.Vickie I wish you the best.To the Holloway family you lost your dad and friend. I was trying to locate him and learned of his passing this 4.16.2023. I am in shock but I know that he is with his Lord.
