Cora Crisp “Granny” Minyard, 94, formerly of 19 Woodland Terrace, Asheville, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at Pisgah Manor Health Care Center.
Mrs. Minyard was born in Swain County and was a daughter of the late Riley and Nellie Cable Crisp. She was also preceded in death by three sons, Jimmy, Dewey Lee and Mickey Minyard, and a daughter, Doris Grant. She was a faithful member of Woodland Terrace Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was a very caring person who was loved by all.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Sheehan Woodruff of Waynesville, and Maxine Stines of Asheville; a son, Jack Minyard of Asheville; twenty-two grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 Noon Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with Pastors Marc Penley and Willard Pruitt officiating. Burial will follow at Newfound Baptist Church Cemetery. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service and at other times will be at the home of Maxine Stines, 23 Woodland Terrace, Asheville..
Maxine, I was thinking of you today as I was at the rest home visiting Dad. Just wanted you to know we are still remembering you and your family in prayer.

Maxine and family, Sorry to hear of your Mother passing away. I got to know you at the rest home over the past few months and saw how you took such good care of your Mom. Our family wants you to know you all are in our prayers and thoughts.

I WANT TO TELL EVERYONE ABOUT MY GRANDMOTHER. SHE WAS THE BEST IN EVERYWAY. THIS WOMAN TOOK ME IN WHEN NO ONE ELSE WOULD.SHE CARED FOR ME AND LOVED ME LIKE NO ONE ELSE EVER DID AND WILL.
THE THING ABOUT IT.. SHE WAS LIKE THIS TO EVERYONE. THAT IS WHAT MADE THIS WOMAN SO GREAT!
THANK YOU GRANNY FOR ALL THE YEARS YOU TOOK CARE OF ME WHEN NO ONE ELSE WOULD.I LOVE YOU WITH ALL MY HEART AND WILL ALWAYS MISS YOU. ME OR YOUR GREAT-GRANDKIDS WILL EVER FORGET YOU. THANKS FOR BEING WHO AND WHAT YOU WERE.
