Mary Ellen Whittier

Mary Ellen Kleberg Whittier, 80, of the Deerfield Episcopal Retirement Community, Asheville, died Thursday, May 15, 2003, in an Asheville hospital. Mrs. Whittier was born in New Rochelle, NY and was a daughter of the late Alexis Charles and Louise Mary Ormsby Kleberg. She was a former teacher, missionary and Peace Corps volunteer and is survived by two daughters, Ann Whittier Kane of Media, PA and Blair Louise Whittier Shepherd of Norwichtown, CT; a son, Bruce Weston Whittier of Perryville, MD; a sister Ann Kleberg Black and four grandchildren, J. Andrew Shephard, Alexis Shephard, Willis Whittier and B. Martin Whittier. Services will be private.
