Charisma Madson Lindberg, 81, PhD, teacher, gardener, Grandma, Norwegian, died peacefully in her beloved Asheville, NC mountain home on July 10, 2007. She leaves many, many friends who will miss her terribly, in addition to her brother, Romund, and his family; brother Jorgen’s family; children, Chris, Lisa, Nora, Kari and Sara, and their spouses; grandchildren, Anyah, Matthew, Shelly, Gwen and Haley, and great-grandchildren, Soleil and Sybella. Born in Savage, MT, Cherry grew up in MT and Aneta, ND, was a licensed private pilot, an Ohio State PhD, granddaughter of a circuit-riding pastor, a pastor’s daughter, and pastor’s wife, the mother of five, a world-class opera singer, and a breast cancer survivor. She taught at OSU and Warren Wilson College; she was Elementary Schools Psychologist for Madison Co., NC, and Child Victim Assistance Coordinator for the Buncombe Co. District Attorney. Her greatest loves were children everywhere who needed help or to have a story read to them, especially her family, and Elliott, Jakey, and Sarah. A celebration of her life will be held August 11, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church on Fairview Highway, NC. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to any children’s organization, so that even more will benefit from Charisma’s life. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.

  1. I met Cherry when the family moved to Aneta. They arrived in winter (as I recall) and Cherry shared my desk with me her first day at school. That began our friendship which has continued through the years despite separation by distance. I had always entertained a hope of visiting her in her North Carolina home. She spoke of it so lovingly and truly loved living in the mountains there. I shall miss her.
