Stephen William Ferguson, Sr., 84, of Hendersonville, passed away on Friday, November 9, 2007, at a local hospital. A native of Ossining, NY, Mr. Ferguson had resided in Hendersonville for the last 19 years, and was a son of the late Stephen J. and Lillian Fisher Ferguson. Mr. Ferguson was a veteran of the U.S. Marines Corps, serving in Iwo Jima during WWII. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1986. Mr. Ferguson is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jane Steneck Ferguson; sons, Stephen William Ferguson, Jr., and William Edward Ferguson, both of Hendersonville; grandchildren, James Stephen Ferguson, of Hendersonville, and Christine Ferguson, of New York; and three great-grandchildren. His family will receive friends on Saturday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, Inc., Office of Development, 1501 NW 9th Avenue/Bob Hope Rd., Miami, FL 33136.

    we are truly saddened by the passing of uncle steve. i(Janet) will always remember our sunday dinners at grandma’s when we went to play softball or in the bad weather when we played shuffleboard. and also the little notes he used to write on our mail as it came through the post office. and the parades and fires and all that stuff.
