Paul David “Buddy” Miller, 70, of 40 Knob Hill Road, Asheville, was born into eternity on Thursday, July 3, 2003, at a local hospital.
Born September 30, 1932 in Madison County, he moved to Florida in 1955 and spent 41 years between there and Atlanta, GA. He returned to Asheville upon his retirement in 1996. A son of the late Charlie and Matilda Price Miller, he was also preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. He attended Jacksonville University in Florida, was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and served in the Merchant Marines. Mr. Miller retired from Ryder Trucking after 26 years of service and retired from Yellow Freight after 13 years of service. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows, a member of Deaverview Baptist Church and a volunteer for Meals On Wheels.
Survivors include his wife, Alma Jean Lowe Miller; three sons, Michael David Miller and his wife Sue of Virginia Beach, VA, Paul Gregory Miller and friend, Rosario Ortigao, of Orlando, FL and Matthew Joseph Miller and his wife Kelly of Jacksonville, FL; three sisters, Gladys Davis and Violet Benson, both of Asheville, and Frances Darwin and her husband Charlie of Charleston, SC; three grandchildren, Jourdan Jeanne Miller, Daniel Gregory Miller and Nicole Danielle Miller and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am Monday in the Patton Avenue Chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Reverend Darrell Searcy officiating. Burial will follow at noon at the VA Cemetery in Black Mountain.
His family and friends will gather together to honor him from 7:00-8:30 pm Sunday at the funeral home. In honor of his memory, memorials may be made to Deaverview Baptist Church Building Fund, 240 Johnston Blvd., Asheville, NC 28806.

Buddy was a great uncle, and I will
miss him. He would always come and
visit Mother which she enjoyed so
much, he would e-mail me. He was just a great man.
