Edward Lee Connors, Sr., 58, of Asheville, died Sunday, April 20, 2008. Mr. Connors was a native of Republic, PA, and was a son of Emily Ogrodny Olesh of Leicester and the late Eugene Valentine Connors, Sr. He was preceded in death by brothers Eugene and Victor Connors. Mr. Connors served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict and retired from the VA Medical Center and the US Navy Reserves. He had lived in Asheville since 1972. Surviving in addition to his mother are his sons, Edward Connors, Jr. and wife, Kelly, of Fairview, Harry Steven Connors and wife Michelle, of Asheville, and Bobby Connors and Teresa Brown of Asheville; one brother, William Connors of Knoxville, TN; two sisters, Sophia Mathis and husband, Michael of Graham, TX, and Lois Blanchard of Asheville; and a sister-in-law, Linda Connors of Asheville. The funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with burial to follow at Green Hills Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Asheville High School Marine JROTC. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
