Charles "Charlie" McKinney, 91, of 9 Family Lane, Asheville, died Wednesday, November 19, 2008, at Pisgah Manor Health Care Center.
A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late Tom and Ollie McKinney. Mr. McKinney was also preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Nellie Thompson McKinney and a son-in-law, Claude Wilson. He was retired from Concrete Products and was a member of Inanda Baptist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Frances Wilson of Asheville, Wanda Ray and husband Leon of Weaverville, Judy Johnston and husband Stanley of Asheville, Rachel Johnston and husband Victor of Asheville; three sisters, Clota Burleson of Asheville, Eleanor Mathis of Ellenboro and Emily Tincher of California; a brother, Ivan McKinney of Asheville; eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Sunday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Bobby Smith and Terry House officiating. Burial will follow at Inanda Baptist Church Cemetery.
His family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm Sunday at funeral home prior to the service.

Clota, Frances and all McKinney Family, Love and prayers, mom and I will miss Charlie. We visited 2 or 3 times weekly, just to say hello. Mother tickled his feet last Thursday and he giggled. A really sweet person. We know he will be missed but in his heavenly home.
