Evelyn always felt at home in the mountains. Evelyn received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from West Texas State College, in Canyon, TX in 1959. She went on to earn her Master's Degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis on reading from the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL in 1975. In 1981, she was accepted in the Educational Specialist degree program at the University of South Florida. Her love of children and education led her to a career in teaching. She specialized in reading. With her passion for teaching, she worked to raise money for students who had special needs. Evelyn's love of God led her to marry Donald Price, an aspiring Presbyterian minister, who was her lifetime friend and love. She was a member of Oak Forest Presbyterian Church in Asheville. She, along with her husband, served churches in CA, TX, CO, FL and NC. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining. Also, Evelyn loved traveling, ex-ploring, and other outdoor activities. She and Dr. Price traveled extensively together. Evelyn loved both the beach and the mountains and traveled the United States as a co-leader of a Girl Scout Troop. Evelyn is survived by her husband, Reverend Dr. Donald G. Price and two daughters, Linda Price Perry and her husband, Dean, of Atlanta, GA and Mary Price-Egger of Franklin, NC. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Katelyn Elizabeth Perry and Lindsey Alexandra Perry, both of Atlanta, GA; Kristina Egger Panusky of Davidson, NC and Heather Anne Egger of Asheville.
