Zenaida Lopez Bench, 88, of Asheville, passed on Wednesday, November 25, 2009. A native of Mexico City, Mexico, Mrs. Bench was a daughter of the late Ramon and Zenaida Martinez Lopez. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Morris Bench; sister, Alicia, and brother, Fernando. Mrs. Bench was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church. She is survived by her daughter, Zenaida Elizabeth Bench, of Windsor Mill, MD; brothers, Eduardo Lopez, of Mexico City, and Jorge Garcia, of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; beloved friend, Karen Stevens, of Asheville; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service for Mrs. Bench will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Brent Norris officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 337 Charlotte St., Asheville NC 28801. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.
