Kelse King, 73, of 698 Pisgah Highway, Candler, died Tuesday,
September 15, 1998, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident on
September 10.
Mr. King was born in Buncombe County, was a son of the late Norvil
and Alzura King, and was married to Geraldine Mann King, who died
January 9, 1997. He lived in Michigan for 20 years before returning to
Asheville in 1970, where he retired from the Vanderbilt Shirt Factory. He
had attended Jones Valley Baptist Church.
He is survived by four sisters, Flossie Worley of Candler, Mamie Sluder
of Leicester, and Lilly Tomlinson and Lila Woody of Asheville; a brother,
Leonard King of Leicester; three step-daughters, Loretta Marlow of
Mahow, GA, Dorothy Sowers of Maysville, GA, and Sherlynn Barnes of
Blue Ridge, GA; two step-sons, James Young of Blue Ridge, and Junior
Young of Michigan; eleven step-grandchildren and fourteen step-great-
grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Saturday at Groce Funeral Home
with the Revs. Steve Smith and Bill Gillespie officiating. Burial will be at
Jones Valley Baptist Church Cemetery.
His family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Friday at the funeral
home and at other times will be at the home of Flossie Worley, 698-A
Pisgah Highway.
