Ruth Brooks Ellis

Ruth Brooks Ellis, of Asheville, died Friday, January 1, 2010, at her home. Mrs. Ellis was a native of Asheville and was a daughter of the late Robert and Flora Clark Brooks and she was married to the late Maynard M. Ellis. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Roberta Towe, Adalee Levi, and Laurine Daniels. She was a member of Haywood Street United Methodist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Becky Pruitt of Asheville and Judy Wolfe of Durham; a son, Richard Ellis and his wife, Marlene, of Asheville, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the pastoral staff of Biltmore Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. If so desired, memorials may be made to the J.F.
