Robert M. Gibson

Mr. Gibson was a native of Buncombe COunty and was a son of the late Robert M. and Hattie Glenn Gibson, Sr.  He was a graduate of Asheville-Biltmore College and a graduate landscape architect from NC State University.  He was the retired owner of Nettlewood Nurseries.  He was a member of the American Nurserymen's Association and the Southern Nurserymen's Association, and was past president of the NC Association of Nurserymen.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Genealia Lane Gibson;  a daughter, Nita Moorhead of Birmingham, AL;  a son, Robert M. Gibson, III, of Horse Shoe;  a sister, Martha G. Weir of Asheville;  four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Saturday at Groce Funeral Home Chapel with the Very Reverend Todd Donatelli officiating.  Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Mausoleum, Hendersonville.

His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and request that memorials be made to Mountain Area Hospice, PO Box 16, Asheville, NC 28802.
