Helen L. Gooley, 80, of Asheville, died Wednesday, February 24, 1999, in a local hospital.

Miss Gooley was born in Asheville and was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Anna Hendricks Gooley. During WW II she worked with the Department of Agriculture in Washington, DC, after which she returned to Asheville with the government's Aero-Photo Lab. She was a member of the ABWA and of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.

She is survived by a brother, Mark Gooley of Asheville and several cousins.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. John Pagel at 11:00 AM Saturday at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.

A prayer service will be held at 5:00 PM Friday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue, after which her family will receive friends until 7:00 PM.
