Hubert E. 'J.R.' Metcalf

Mr. Metcalf was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late Hubert E. Metcalf, Sr.  He was an Army veteran and was retired from the Inspections Department of the City of Asheville.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Mae Harris.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara L. 'Bobbie' Metcalf;  his mother, Willie Mae Metcalf;  three sisters, Elma Smith, Naomi Maze and Viola Cordell;  two brothers, Clarence Metcalf and Arthur Metcalf.

Funeral services will be at 6:00 pm Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert E. Harris officiating.   Entombment will be Monday at Forest Lawn Mausoleum.

His family will receive friends Monday evening following the service.
