Jack M. Searcy

Mr. Searcy was a son of the late G.M. and Hattie Smart Searcy, and was also preceded in death by his daughter, Carolyn Friszell, a brother, Glenn Searcy, and two sisters, Gertrude Searcy and Lucille Fox.

He was an Army veteran of WW II and was retired after 39 years of service with the Asheville Oil Company.  More recently, “Mr. Jack” drove a school bus for Fairview Elementary School.  In this avocation, he was recognized as a lean, quiet, polite man, who was known as much for his counseling abilities and gentle discipline as he was for his safe driving.

Mr. Searcy was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church.He was also a loving husband and wonderful father and grandfather and is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sara Reed Searcy;  a granddaughter, Sherida Friszell;  a sister, Myrtle Fox of Milton, FL, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Sunday at Bethany United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Avery Owenby and the Rev. Don McIntyre officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

His family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Saturday at Groce Funeral
Home on Patton Avenue where Mr. Searcy will remain until being placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
